A limited number of clients are accepted each year. If there is no current availability, you will be offered a place on the waitlist.
For more than three decades, Sam has worked privately with horse owners who need more than a clinic offers — people who want someone who knows their horse, their situation, and their history, and who is available when something comes up rather than scheduled six weeks out.
The Custom Consults & Coaching program exists for that person. It isn't a course or a program with a set curriculum. It's a year of working together — at whatever pace your horse and your life require.
A small number of clients are accepted each year. If there is no current availability, you will be offered a place on the waitlist.
Learn More About the ApproachThe annual retainer is $5,000 USD and covers the following for 12 months:
By phone or video — recorded and available to download after each session, scheduled around your availability.
Monthly 15-minute calls on what you're observing, plus personal introductions to trusted veterinarians, farriers, physiotherapists, dentists, and nutritionists when relevant.
For questions between sessions — answered personally, not by a form response or template.
Priority access to private in-person visits at your facility, wherever you are in the world. Travel and on-site teaching fees are separate and discussed during your intro call.
Unlimited access to the entire Remote Horse Coach video catalog for the year — all current content and everything added during your enrollment period.
You are on Sam's schedule for the full 12 months — including last-minute needs, practitioner referrals, and anything that comes up that doesn't fit neatly into a scheduled session.
On-site travel and teaching fees are not included in the retainer and are discussed individually based on location and visit requirements. Everything else listed above is covered in full for 12 months from the date of enrollment.
"It had been decades since I had last taken lessons. I'd gotten back into horses about five years ago, and realized there was a lot I had missed, or was mistaught about the horse — this time I wanted things to be different. Sam was recommended to me by a good friend who had watched her for years help owners and horses. I was still skeptical, but I reached out. As soon as we had our first conversation, I knew I'd found someone who would be an empathetic and kind teacher. Here we are a year later, and my appreciation for her knowledge, skill, and ability to teach both virtually and in-person is quite shocking. She's the real deal. She looks at things from such different angles, connecting all the little things that I — and most people — wouldn't notice. I'm having so much fun with my once distrustful mare, and we both have gained so much more confidence. I'm looking forward to another year of continuing our journey with Sam's guidance."
You have a specific horse or situation you're committed to working through over time — not just in a single session
You value privacy — your own schedule, your own facility, and a coaching relationship that isn't shared with a group
You want to be able to reach out between sessions when something comes up, rather than waiting for the next available clinic date
You've worked in the horse world long enough to know the difference between someone who addresses symptoms and someone who addresses what's actually driving them
You've been in clinics, taken lessons, or tried other approaches — and found yourself in the same place a year later
This is the format that addresses why that keeps happening.
Because the retainer includes direct, ongoing access to Sam throughout the year, the number of clients in this program at any one time is kept small deliberately. This isn't a group coaching program or a membership with unlimited seats.
Enrollment is selective and limited. The inquiry form is how we start — a short call follows to make sure the fit is right on both sides.
If there is no current availability, you will be added to the waitlist and contacted when a space opens.
Sam reviews each submission personally and will reach out to schedule a short complimentary call to discuss your horse situation and whether this program is the right fit for where you are right now.
There is no obligation to enroll on that call — it's a conversation first. If the program isn't the right fit at this stage, she'll say so.
Due to the selective nature of this program, not all inquiries will result in enrollment.
Please save scheduling@learnhorses.com to your safe senders list so you don't miss a reply.
"When I looked at Sunny from a distance and did my whistle, she walked away from her buddies and came to me."
"When I call Luna, even at feeding time, she comes over, and I just point to where I want her to go, she looks, I cluck, and she goes! This was a horse that used to run me over to get to her dinner."
"I never thought my 'hard to catch' horse would ever become the easiest one in my herd."
There's no cookie cutter, pre-designed, one-size-fits-all "program." Each student and horse are met with specific insight, advice, and realistic instructions to help the human recognize, understand, and address the equine in a manner that has value to him.
"The horse's behavior reflects their mental and emotional state... and what they've learned about the human, based on previous interactions."
